The 'Twilight' Zone

Now, I now that these are considered to be in the 'Tween" category of literature, but the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer really is a captivating experience. The movie did not hold a candle to the book, but was a cheap thrill in itself. I did happen to see some interesting knitwear in the movie, and before I could attempt to try and create a pattern for one of these seen, Behold, someone beat me to it. These mittens are scrumptious! And the pattern was really easy to follow as well. I took some super soft bulky Alpaca from the stash, and worked these up in a jiffy. They are not as bulky as the pattern yarn, but very warm, and cute to the max, as well. For those of you wanting to make your own, the author has given this pattern for free over here-

O where, O where will all the Crops go?

O the Greenery! This is my favorite time of year. All these little sprouts that will soon be the spring landscape. Just need to figure out exactly where everything will go in our small little plot of a homestead. Time to make the most of our teensy weensy yard.

And the spring fun begins. First baseball game at the brand new downtown stadium, with her whole kindergarten class to boot. The field is really nice, my only wish is that there were nets to keep from being bombarded with foul balls.

Quick post for today as I am stuck home with a sick child and massive amounts of laundry to do. Yummy oven bread before the baking, cannot wait to have this with the Chicken and Corn Chowder tomorrow.

Ancient Greek Inspiration

It is a bit soon to start planning the winter wardrobe, but I saw this chart and could not help the possibilities that came to mind. I am thinking a double knitted scarf and simple earflap hat, possible mittens too if I can perfect my thumb decreases.

Sister Apron

My sister and I both have the terrible habit of wiping our hands on our pants whilst doing our daily kitchen duties. I have decided to remedy this problem with a simple (but sexy) pin up girl apron. After looking at pictures and patterns online, I whipped this little baby up by sketching the outline on some leftover newsprint, and then embellishing. Behold, the sister apron. Hope you like it, Red.

Step Ribbed Stole

It has taken 4 years of unorganized knitting abundance to finally get me to clean up my act. I now only have a remaining 7 wip's (works in progress), and the Step Ribbed Stole from The Knitters Book of Yarn being the top most of my list. The pattern called for the use of merino fine wool, but I chose to use Lavish 100% Alpaca because I wanted a little more drape to the finished product. Give or take a few more weeks, and Grandma will be toasty on those chilly spring evenings.
